how to judge an internet business

We are bombarded with business opportunities everyday.

From infomercials to email spam, it seems as though
everyone is trying to cash in on the American Dream.
The fact of the matter is that 95% of the offers out here are bogus.
I've tried them all: envelope stuffing, multi-level marketing schemes, selling how-to-make-money manuals, etc. People who sell this crap make money by selling the get-rich-quick dream to naive opportunity seekers. They don't make money honestly, and they really don't have a clue as to what it really takes to become wealthy.

Finding a legitimate opportunity on the Web isn't easy, but once you do find one, the sky is the limit. However, finding a good product or opportunity such as an affiliate marketing program is only half of the battle. Knowing how to effectively market the product is the other half of the equation.

First, you have to find a good product or service.
There are free affiliate programs that offer all types of programs like marketing credit cards, health and nutrition products or wireless phones. Some of these programs require a web site of your own to place their banners on, and some affiliate programs don't require ownership of a web site. They will provide an affiliate URL for you in order to market their web site's product or service. Make sure the program that you choose offers cookies for your URL in order to receive credit on a sale generated weeks or months prior. You will find that most customers aren't implusive when it comes to buying products, and they operate by the product or service getting their attention first, then their interest, desire and finally action (AIDA). You want a program that offers at least a 30-day cookie. You don't want the company to get 100% of a sale that you created. Also, check out a company's history at the Better Business Bureau's website www.bbb.org to see how many complaints a company has as well as how the company resolves these complaints.

Second, you want to establish your target audience.
For example, if your product or service is only offered in the U.S.,
you don't want to market it to the entire world because you will waste
time and money trying to effectively market your product or service to
an audience that can't use it. This is especially true if you plan to use cost-per-click (CPC) search engine marketing techniques.

Last, you need a medium to advertise your product or service like Googl
e Ad Words.
Google Ad Words allows you to market your product or service
by placing cost-per-click ads in the Sponsored Search section on the
Google search engine. This is an affordable way to advertise, and they
allow you to advertise on any budget. They also give you a $50 initial
credit line to start, and they will raise your limit in increments of
$150 up to $500. You will postpay on a monthly basis as long as you do
n't exceed your initial credit limit. You can set your bids based on
your advertising budget, and you can specifically target your audience
by city, region or country in order to maximize sales and minimize
costs.

Follow these three steps, and you will be on your way to making
substantial monthly profits over time. Being an effective internet
marketer requires patience, dilligence and a strong desire to be your
own boss.
